About the Support at Home APD Review
Under the Support at Home program, all meal providers must demonstrate that their menu has been assessed by an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD). This review ensures meals are nutritious, appetising, and appropriate for older people.
For information about the compliance requirement, what to expect from the review, and how to book, see:
➡️ Support at Home APD Reviews for Meal Providers
Although no formal deadline is set in the government guidance, most Care Providers are requesting completion certificates by 31 March 2026, so it’s best to schedule your review and prepare your recipes well in advance.
How to prepare for your APD Review
1. Review guidance
When preparing for your review, refer to the Cookaborough Menu Planning Guide for guidance on nutritionally balanced meals.
2. Ensure recipe compliance
Your complete and accurate recipes allow the APD to verify portions of vegetables, protein, and calcium content, and to cross-check the accuracy of your Nutrition Information Panels (NIPs).
Ensure all recipes that will form part of your APD Review:
✅ Have accurate names, descriptions, and images
✅ Are organised into the correct menu sections
✅ Include full ingredient lists with quantities and metrics.
✅ Have correct yields and serving sizes
✅ Include clear customer storage and preparation instructions
✅ Have Nutrition Information Panels (NIPs) switched on
✅ Are tagged with appropriate dietary filters
If your recipe images are AI-generated or stock, ensure you have real photos of the prepared meals available to share with the dietitian.
3. Select meals for review
You will need to select 10 meals or 10% of your menu (whichever is greater).
These should be:
- Your most popular meals over the past six months, or
- Meals from your dedicated Support at Home menu or menu section (if you have one)
You can identify popular meals within your Cookaborough dashboard by going to:
Data → Analytics → Meal insights
4. Download recipe cards
Once your recipes are complete and accurate, download the Recipe Cards from Cookaborough to provide to the Dietitian.
These contain all the information needed for the desktop assessment.

5. Prepare to provide meal feedback or samples
As part of the review, the APD must assess whether your meals are appetising.
Most reviews are conducted remotely. You will either:
- Send physical meal samples, or
- Provide customer feedback for each selected meal
If you are not providing samples, ensure customer feedback is collated per dish in a clear, easy-to-share format for the dietitian.
