About discounts
Offering discounts is a great way to attract new customers, reward loyal ones, and encourage higher spending. With Cookaborough, you can create two types of discounts - Automatic and Coupon - each with flexible settings to suit your business goals.
There are two types of discounts:
Automatic Discounts
Automatic discounts are applied automatically at checkout when a customer, or their order, meets the conditions you set. For automatic discounts, the customer is not required to enter a code. Automatic discounts are great for encouraging higher spending, rewarding a specific customer group, and/or reducing cart abandonment.
Examples:
- 20% off when you spend $200 or more
- First time customers receive 10% off and free delivery
- Customers from a specific group receive $10 off their next order
Coupon Discounts
Coupon discounts require customers to enter a code at checkout to receive the offer. This type of discount is useful for targeted promotions or exclusive offers. Coupon discounts are a great way to measure the success of your marketing activities because they require customers to actively enter a code, making it easy to track how many people engaged with a specific campaign.
Examples:
- Enter code MARCH15 for 15% off during March
- Enter code WELCOME10 for $10 off your first order
- Enter code VIP to get free delivery
Discount settings
When setting up a discount (whether Automatic or Coupon), you can customize the following settings:
- Discount offer - Choose between a percentage off the order total, a fixed dollar amount, and/or free delivery.
- Duration – Set the discount to be ongoing or active for a fixed period.
- Eligibility - Restrict discounts to a specific customer group and/or require a minimum order amount.
- Usage Limits – Control how often a discount can be used:
- Set an overall limit (the maximum number of times the discount can be used across all customers) and/or
- Set a per customer limit (the maximum number of times an individual customer can use the discount).
