There are two types of Gift Cards sold via Cookaborough. The first type of Gift Card is a Cookaborough branded Gift Card, the second type of Gift Card is a Food Business branded Gift Card. In this resource we explain how Gift Cards work.

Cookaborough Gift Cards can be purchased via Cookaborough.com and can be redeemed across all Food Businesses on Cookaborough.
When a Cookaborough Gift Card has been used to place an order from your menu the funds are automatically transferred by Cookaborough into your Stripe account.
Gift Cards sold via your Cookaborough homepage
Gift Cards sold via your Cookaborough homepage are issued by Cookaborough. These Gift Cards are branded to your business and are only redeemable with your business.
When a Gift Card is purchased via your homepage the funds for the purchase are held by Cookaborough until the Gift Card is used. When a customer uses their Gift Card to place an order, the corresponding funds will be automatically transferred to your Stripe account.
How long are Gift Cards valid for?
All Gift Cards are valid for a 3 year period from the date or purchase.
What happens when a Gift Card expires?
When a Gift Card expires the Gift Card code automatically becomes invalid and can no longer be applied to an order. Any remaining balance on the Gift Card is forfeited and retained by Cookaborough.
Who holds the liability for Gift Cards?
Cookaborough holds responsibility for Gift Cards. This removes the financial liability from your business and it ensures customers can always be refunded or supported where required, it also allows Cookaborough to meet our payment and consumer obligations.
From time to time a Food Business on Cookaborough ceases operations with unfulfilled Gift Cards. In these instances, where the business is not in a position to issue refunds, Cookaborough will step in to cover the cost of gift cards.
Do I have to sell Gift Cards via Cookaborough?
You have the ability to opt-out from selling Gift Cards via your home page. The control for this is in your Settings > Gifting. If you opt-out the Gift cards link will be removed from your home-page on Cookaborough.
Can I create Gift Cards for use in promotions, as gifts and as donations?
Yes you can. Via your dashboard you can create Gift Cards that are issued free of fees that can be used for promotions, gifts and donations.
Where can I see the Gift Cards sold via my homepage?
In your dashboard via Marketing > Gift cards you can view a table showing details of the Gift Cards sold via your home page.
How do I know when a Gift Card has been used as the payment method?
When a Gift Card is used to pay for an order it will appear as a standard transaction on your orders table. In the expanded view of the order and on the invoice it will indicate that a Gift Card was used as the payment method. If the order has been part paid by a Gift Card and part paid via a credit card, this will also be clearly shown.
