Customer Groups can be used to offer discounts to a specific group of customers instead of making the discount available to everyone.
For example, you could offer a discount to:
- Customers who haven't ordered recently
- Loyal customers
- VIP customers
- Wholesale customers
- Another group you've created
Before starting, you'll need to have your Customer Group set up.

Create a discount for a Customer Group
There are two methods to create a discount for a group of customers.
You can create it via the Discounts page by going to Discounts and selecting Create discount.
(Helpful if you want it to apply for multiple groups)
Or you can do it directly in the Customer Groups page by selecting the “create discount action”

1. Choose your discount type
Choose the type of discount you want to create, such as a:
- Coupon
- Automatic discount

2. Select your Customer Group
Choose the Customer Group that should receive the discount.
Only customers included in the selected group will be targeted by the discount.
3. Add your discount conditions
Set any other conditions required for the discount, such as a minimum spend.
Review the discount and the Customer Group you've selected before finishing your setup.

Create a discount when making a new group
When you create a new Smart group, Cookaborough will show you a confirmation once the group has been saved.
From here, you can select Group discount to start creating a discount for your new group straight away.
You can also select Done if you don't want to create a discount yet. Your group will remain available to use later.

Choosing the right group
Think about what you want the discount to achieve before choosing your group.
For example:
- Encourage customers to order again
Create a Smart group for customers who haven't ordered recently and offer them a discount on their next order.
- Reward loyal customers
Create a Smart group based on customer ordering behaviour and offer those customers an exclusive discount.
- Offer a discount to selected customers
Create a manual group when you know exactly which customers should receive the offer.
❗Before using your discount
Check your Customer Group before making the discount available.
For a Smart group, check the filters and customer count to make sure you're targeting the customers you expect.
For a manual group, check the customer list to make sure the correct customers have been added.
Remember that Smart groups can change automatically as customers start or stop matching the group's rules.
